Sometimes it just take another set of eyes to look at project and transform it into something that is more functional to your family. DataUnite worked with a client in Lee's Summit, MO to convert a non functioning projector and screen home theater into a state of the art media room with an above fireplace TV mount, 7 channel surround sound system, and a new music system that runs from an iPad or iPhone.
Case:
Early fall 2011 the client came to Clint Miller, President of DataUnite, with a real problem. He had just purchased an awesome home in Lee's Summit, MO but was struggling with a difficult to operate home theater and music system. The original installation company had installed a projector in the ceiling and motorized screen several years earlier. The house also had a wiring nightmare in the equipment closet and a broken keypad audio system. The equipment was dated, difficult to use, and the picture and sound was poor. The system also had a very noisy fan system installed that was out of control. He asked for our help and a simple question we hear a lot "What would you do if this was your home?"
Solution:
The client couldn't get past the fact that the room had always had a projector and screen. Our team suggested a more simple approach that was packed with performance. We decided to mount a big 65" TV above the great room fireplace and install a Sonos music system that gives access to their entire iTunes music library, Pandora, and over 10,000 other Internet based radio stations.
- Day 1: We uninstalled the existing equipment rack, straighten out and labeled the wiring, and tested all of the speakers. We found that we were able to use all of the clients 24 speakers with the exception of one pair.
- Day 2-5: We installed the big 65" Panasonic TV complete with Internet applications like Netflix and Amazon Video. We calibrated the system, downloaded all the programming and helped the client with setting up his iPad and iTunes. We also added a few additional TV rooms in the Master Bedroom and Work Out Area. With very little training the client was off to the races and called the next day to express how fun and easy the system was.
Results:
Along with the help of the construction team lead by John Gyllenborg of John Gyllenborg Construction we were able to provide the client with a simple solution on time and on budget that addressed his families current media needs. From iPod to Xbox, DataUnite was able to facilitate an in-depth installation of the newest electronic systems available at a fraction of the price of the existing system.
